My husband and I have hiked with these for over a year and are very happy with them. I had an arthritis flare on the AT and had to lean on these poles heavily hiking down the side of a steep mountain. I would have been afraid any brand at any price would have failed under the abuse they took that day. I would not have made it down unassisted without these poles. Customer service was great with a problem right after ordering as well!

WITHOUT RESERVATION, THESE ARE THE BEST DAILY WALKING ASSISTANCE TREK POLES ON THE MARKET!

With permanent back and brain injuries, walking has become something requiring assistance. I’ve tried all the other sticks, canes, and trek poles, but these are the first fully-collapsible, compact and light (but STRONG) hiking poles I’ve encountered. They are priced as a great value as well, as other hiking apparatus of this kind can cost over $100 EACH with far less durability. The other poles also start to “Squeak” and deteriorate over time, Particularly those with shock-absorbing features. these poles also have the same Ice-grip carbon steel heads for winter conditions hidden behind the rubber tips, so with winter approaching I’ll have the extra confidence they provide. I need and prefer quiet poles, and these fit all my requirements. Since I intend to live well past my current 59 years (with divine help), and may well need more of these, I just put in another order to lay back… I keep a set in my car and my walker which is used for work… I’m a tough daily user of these, and in the short time I’ve used them I’m convinced these are the best I’ve used, and recommend them without reservation!

Great poles, great service, great company!

I purchased these poles for trout fishing in the Rockies. I wanted a pole that was collapsible, could be worn on my belt and yet would be easily brought into use when I needed it. The big requirement was that the sections lock into place when extended. Whsn fishing those fast moving streams my other poles would invariable catch on a stone under water and pull apart at the worst time. This pole performed perfectly. These are high quality aluminum poles. I’m six feet three and weigh 250 pounds and these poles had no problem keeping me steady in swift streams. I lost the rubber tip on the pole on my third day because I forgot to take it off before entering the water. I usually take it off after using it to help hike to my favorite spot, but forgot. I wrote High Stream Gear on their website when I returned to see if I could purchase a replacement. A few days later a package showed up at my door with two new tips and baskets absolutely no charge. Great response to something that was totally my fault. The fact that there are two poles of this quality at this price is just fantastic.

HIGH STREAM GEAR KNOWS THEIR STUFF… YOU NEED A PAIR OF THESE.

Today was my first day to try out these new poles, and though I am a novice hiker in my 40’s, I am happy to report that they performed exactly as I had hoped. I could not be happier, not only with their design and sturdy construction, but also with their ability to break down so compactly to fit in my pack. The fact that they come with their own sheath is a big plus as well, in case I wanted to fasten them to the outside of the pack. The High Stream Gear Team really went out of their way to design poles with features that matched or exceeded those of the poles found at places like REI, and at a fraction of the cost. While testing them for the first time on rugged uphill terrain, it was immediately apparent to me what a worthwhile purchase I had made. I could instantly feel the relief on my knees, back, and even my ankles as I found my footing. In fact, even my wife (who was a little skeptical of using poles at first) gave them a try on some of the uphill inclines, and she had to admit that they truly help with the climb, and now wants a pair of her own. So we will be purchasing another pair on Amazon very soon. Thanks so much to the High Stream team for offering such a great and valuable tool, one which I am confident will empower us to enjoy the great outdoors for years to come.

My wife and I love these TX folding hiking poles. We use them as wading staffs while fly fishing. They are compact for when we hike back to the river and sturdy when you misstep in the water. Great quality and highly recommend them for hiking, wading, and all around convenience. They arrived quickly and the people at High Stream are top notch.

    A clever combination of features

Just before leaving for a trip to Bhutan (put it on your bucket list!) I found that my regular hiking poles would not fit into my luggage. I found the High Stream trekking poles on Amazon and ordered them – the next day they arrived with PRIME. An ingenious folding system, special cases to hold the folded poles on my belt, rubber tips and snow baskets, all top quality. One of the nicest things was the pure cork handles – strong yet pliant and oh-so-comfortable. I used the poles in various hikes and treks in the Himalaya Mountains of Bhutan. I used them hard and they held up remarkably well. When I got back I found that one of the rubber tips had broken through: an email to High Stream had a set of replacements (and new snow baskets!) on my doorstep in 3 days. Now THAT’s customer service!

    Strong and compact

I used this for hike in Sedona. I did 3-4 hours hike every day for 5 days. This helped me balance on rocky hike especially coming down hill.
I could hold up and keep it on my bag when I need both hands to climb up some rocks, it was helpful.
The product is light weight, strong, and easy to hold and open. I recommend it.

Also this company has best customer service I ever received. They responds questions very quickly. One of the folder case was not sewed right, i mentioned it while I was asking questions, and they sent me a new one very quickly.

    Good Quality, OUTSTANDING customer Service

Not only are the poles of the highest quality, once I mastered the art of putting them together (it is easy, I was just overlooking the obvious – yank hard!) I I am completely pleased. There is also a good YouTube video that shows assembly. The company replied to my query within an hour and followed up a day later. Poles are lightweight, and fold down to a handy size, fitting into compact cases that easily clip on to a backpack. I am not a youngster (well over 70) and I was only sorry I didn’t have these with me on a recent trip to Iceland where it seemed every other adult was trekking along with poles. Not only do they provide wonderful exercise, they also offer a good sense of balance and security.
I have already linked a few friends to this site and have no problem recommending them with five stars.

After some challenging hikes, I am giving these poles a high grade

I didn’t want to review them too quickly, because the value of a hiking pole emerges over time. I bought these in the late spring and have used them for a number of hikes, including ones where we leaned on the poles to help us hop over a deep, rushing stream, and climb up and down hills with unstable rocks and mud. The pole assembly is really simple but not intuitive. If you watch their short video once, it’ll be fine…the trick is the “hidden” portion of the pole, and the need to extend to the “click.” Now that I have learned it, I like it much better than some of the “bungee” style connections…I think it is much stronger, since you have a strong cord connecting the pieces but no dependence upon elastic tension. In fact, I have been really surprised by how sturdy the poles are. It takes just a moment, really easy to assemble and disassemble, but so much easier to pack than the standard poles, even when they are shortened to travel with. This comes with a very strong and well-made but somewhat stiff and heavy case. I use it for storage at home, but when I travel, I tend to put the poles in plastic bags to save weight. To summarize, these are excellent collapsible poles, and can be used for people of a variety of heights. I am 5’4″ and they are great.

    Easy to open/close,folding walking poles.

These are wonderful. I needed something to help me walk and canes are too short. I saw this companies video and saw this was what I wanted. Some reviews say they had trouble folding them..which was my main concern. I needed a pole to open and close quickly with little effort. These are PERFECT! The first time I admit I got confused but when I looked at it again I realized how easy it actually was to open and close. It took maybe 4 seconds to open and less to close. These are also sturdy and I love that each comes in it’s own holder. They fit in my tote bag and I am so thankful that I bought them. I have told several others with walking issues that these are a lifesaver. You walk upright and they are very light. No more hunched over walking. Anyone who uses a cane should try these. You will not need strength to open them and they are stable…and look cool.

    Great trekking poles

I’m so glad I purchased these High Stream Gear Foldable Hiking & Trekking Poles. They were very easy to put together and adjust to my height. The poles are light weight however they appear very sturdy. I just had a total knee replacement and my physical therapist recommended I get these poles to help me start a walking program again. So far, so good.

    Love These Hiking Poles!

I waited to write a review until after I had an adequate opportunity to evaluate these foldable hiking poles. I took them on a muddy trail with a 1600’ elevation change. Going up was difficult but coming back down was extremely challenging. These poles are very lightweight and easy to assemble. They felt very strong and kept me stable on the decent. Without them I would have spent a considerable time on the ground. With them I didn’t fall once. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for lightweight hiking poles. One recommendation that I have is to list the person’s height with setting range. I bought a second set for my wife and the set I bought for her works but at the minimum setting. Had I known more, I could have bought the women’s poles for her.

These were such a great asset for recent trip to Costa Rica. We walk a lot but Florida is so flat that the inclines both up and down were a challenge in Costa Rica. The hiking poles made the difference between being able to participate in hikes, bird watching and coffee farm tours or having to sit it out and wait for the group to return. If you have even the slightest problem with knees or hips, these poles can make your treks much more comfortable and enjoyable. I recommend purchasing extra trips (which are very cheap), especially for rough terrains.

  14. Bob K

Great hiking poles and great customer service

I purchased these trekking poles to replace an old set that I had. These new hiking sticks are outstanding. They are easy to assemble, easy to fold and pack and lightweight. I am 65 years old and love to hike. My big issue is going downhill. They provide me with stability and comfort while going downhill. In addition, they make the overall hike much more pleasant.

It is now December 1. I have used my hiking sticks almost daily since I received them. I’ve hiked everywhere with them including segments of the Appalachian trail.

I had a MINOR problem with one stick. The company responded immediately and corrected the problem above and beyond my expectations.

I highly recommend both the hiking sticks and the company. If I could I would give them six stars.

Recovering from ankle surgery I had relied on a cane–but the cane ergonomics caused shoulder pain that required PT. So I switched to the trekking pole–being able to hold the pole in 2 different areas depending on the terrain was great! I had to attend a meeting in San Francisco–uneven sidewalks, stuff on the ground, construction barriers–it was perfect. I only needed the one pole for stability so I kept one in the car as a back up. Folds up nicely and fits in my briefcase. Has a strap so you don’t drop it like a cane. Looks so much better then a cane overall. Actually got compliments using it at a formal reception! You can still lean on it if necessary but I prefer the cork grip and the softer grip just below the cork when going up stairs.

    Very compact and portable

I bought these to use in Colorado. They are very compact and portable. They extend and retract very easily. I haven’t used them yet except around the house but they seem to be good enough for the shorter day hikes I do. They were easy to throw in my luggage and will be great to throw in the car.

This is my first set of poles, so I don’t have much to compare the quality to. I don’t use poles regularly, but wanted to keep a pair in my pack for the times when they’d come in handy (like crossing slippery river rocks). I was looking for an ultra lightweight and compact set of poles, but needed a design that wouldn’t risk them collapsing unexpectedly. I’m pretty sure I found just that! The quality, design and comfortability exceeded my expectations, but I gave 5 stars because the carrying cases are an added bonus that is really nice—they are good quality, and give me options to attach the poles to my body or on the outside of my pack if I choose to. Overall, I’m impressed with this product and happy with my purchase.

Just got back from six days of hiking in Utah and had to post about these great little hiking poles. They were easily packable in my checked bag. Once we got to the parks, I took them out of their individual holders and tucked them in my day/water pack. Always there if I needed them, out of the way if I didn’t. They performed well on both the hard rock surfaces and in the river muck and soft sand. They are lightweight and comfortable to grip. Five stars! Highly recommend.

I fell on my last pair of hiking poles and broke one, so I was in the market to find another pair; and quickly since I was due to hike Linville Gorge. I like the type of poles like these that can be collapsed and then reassembled. I took a chance on this pair and I have been very happy with them so far. Yes, these are a little heavier than the typical hiking pole(s); but when I use them, the poles feel solid. the hand grips are a little bigger than other poles which I like. I don’t notice that these weigh a little more, but I get the feel of a quality product when I use them. I used these for river crossings, and hiking up and down very steep trails and I got a pretty good sense that these are built to last.

Very light, but doesn’t feel cheap

I really appreciate the foldable design compared to the telescopic ones. It gives better confidence that it’ll hold you. They are light and quality is worth the price. I highly recommend all hikers and campers alike to consider buying these.

I’m a 79 y.o. grandma having trouble with balance, from foot neuropathy, and declining knees. My Physical Therapist suggested I use trekking poles for walking instead of a walker. “The poles will keep you in a better upright posture than leaning forward with a walker”. So, I’ve used several kinds of poles, but, High Stream Gear Hiking and Trekking poles are my favorite. Why? My order came almost immediately and the after service has been great. They are so light and collapse with a carry-bag that is a compact package to carry with you-shopping, theater, friends-just pack your poles away until you need them again. And don’t be stumped the first time you try opening them. It’s a bit different but, I think, a much better design. Looking for that “little button”? Don’t be afraid to pull fervently that first time and it will appear…and, oh, the video is a big help, too. Once you’ve figure it out there is nothing NOT TO LIKE (is that a double negative?) about your High Stream Trekking Poles! Happy trails to you!

Finally, folding poles that really work for travel!

These are the best trekking poles I’ve used, and I own three sets. My other folding ones are just too long and heavy for international travel, but these High Stream Gear poles are lightweight, sturdy, and fold down to such a small size, plus each pole has its own pouch which can be attached to a belt. I love the comfortable cork handles. These are now my go-to poles every time I travel. And as terrific as the poles are, the customer service from this family business is truly amazing. They reached out to me by email when I received my order, and did a great job helping me with a technical issue when I had trouble locking the poles into place (it was me, not the poles). I give both the product and the business my highest possible recommendation.

  23. Coastal Grammie

These are very affordable and better than any I have looked at elsewhere!

I regularly use trekking/hiking poles for exercise walking, but I got these for when I travel. Especially, I got them for a trip to Wales and Dublin in January – a very rainy time, of course. I am over 70, and learned in Greece ( on all the terrain of ruins and excavations) that I do much better on uneven ground with some sort of pole to steady myself. These poles are perfect, because they are so small when folded, so light (for packing and carrying purposes), so sturdy when assembled, and include a separate pouch for each one that you can hang on a belt – so clever! Be sure to watch the video for assembly!!

I bought a pair for myself to help with balance and to ramp up my walks. I liked them so well I came back and got some for my husband. They are well made and we love them! Great price for great quality. Thank you High Stream Gear!

  25. Karen (verified owner)

I haven’t made extensive use of my poles yet, but they look exactly like what I was hoping for. They collapse very easily and I like the grip. I’m looking forward to using them on my next big hike. I can also report excellent customer service. They reached out by email, answered questions, and even double-checked to make sure I received my order!
